Rejection is a great teacher and a great motivator!

I remember my first sales job like it was yesterday. It was almost 30 years ago and I had just gotten out of the military. The only company that would hire me with no skills was a small Spanish radio station.

The GM hired me on the spot because they needed a white guy to call on English-speaking businesses.

They were even more desperate than I was! On my first day, they handed me a stack of business cards with the person’s name they had just fired on them and told me to write my name over it!

My training consisted of one sentence: go out the door and call every business in the city! I was cussed at and yelled at more that day than my first day of boot camp! I could not believe how creative business owners were on how they said NO!

Rejection is a big part of our lives and essential to our growth. I would guess that in the last 30 years of business I have been told NO (Rejected) at least 20,000 times!

Rejection has become my greatest teacher and motivator. It will reveal where you are in the eyes of those you are trying to work with.

The trick to handling Rejection is to see it as a friend and not a foe. It is there to help you not hurt you!

Once you take rejection personally, it becomes your MASTER and YOU will try to avoid anything that will put you in that position again.

Which means you will STOP TRYING. YOU will give up and live a life of security. The longer you stay in this place the more sensitive and thinned skin you will become. This will lead to a life of blaming others for all of your fumbles, failures, and frustrations!

Rejection, like failure, should be your teacher and motivator. Use them as a sail and not as an anchor.

Everyone will face A LOT of rejection in life, but ONLY YOU can decide if it will HELP YOU or HURT YOU!
