One of the worst bosses I ever had went through employees like they were disposable diapers. This person never understood that she was motivating the team to LEAVE. Within the first 3 years of being the boss she went through over 30 new employees. Is that some kind of record?

In the 40 years I’ve been a part of the workforce there have been some really great bosses, some really average bosses, and some really bad bosses.

The responsibility to Motivating the Team lies with everyone, but the leader/boss has the extra burden of setting the tone and following through.

I believe there are 3 main principles to Motivating The Team you are on and those team’s can be: a class room, a job, church, board, business, family or a sports team.

  1. YOU must Love doing what you are doing. If you see your work as a curse and not a blessing, that it’s too hard, or you can’t wait till the weekend and do just enough to get by, then you are motivating the team to fail!

  1. Your Vision must be bigger than your paycheck! The majority of people are working for money and that is a sure fire way to end up miserable and alone. Your reason or vision for why you are doing what you are doing must be so much more than just you and the company. How are you changing the world? Now share that with the Team.

  1. Lead by Example. Never tell anyone to do something they have not seen you do with excellence. Real leaders serve the team and you can’t do that by just telling people what to do. To motivate the team you must not only show them how to do it but also how to do it with Passion!

Everyone on a team is responsible to follow these 3 principles because if you are not doing these, then you might end up being the one who is motivating the team to fail!

Find Your passion and You Will Find Your Life!
