The Blame Game

The news has been full of Politicians, Athletes, CEO’s, and Actors who are blaming everyone about how unfair their lives are because of what someone did or said. It amazes me when highly successful people will spend their time whining and blaming instead of changing!

Recently a comedian got into trouble because of a disturbing photo shoot she did. Her initial response was perfect: she admitted the mistake and asked for forgiveness. This is the same thing we teach our children to do when they make poor decisions.

The story would have eventually gone away, and everyone would have moved on, but she decided to change her direction and become the victim.

Now it is everyone’s fault but hers. Now she is the one being treated unfairly, and no one understands how hard her life is.

We will ALL make mistakes, poor decisions and say bad things without thinking. This is part of being human, but if you want to change and grow, then you must stop blaming others for your stupid stuff!

Take responsibility and do what you are teaching your children to do: own your mistake and ask forgiveness. Yes, it will be painful and embarrassing, but it is the ONLY way to heal and change.

Remember the times you cut or scraped yourself really bad and your Mom had to pour alcohol on the wound? It stung like crazy, but the pain only lasted for a short period. We hate the pain it will cause, but without it, the wound would get infected and grow!

Pouring Alcohol to your physical wound is a similar pain to admitting your mistake and asking forgiveness! It will be painful for a short period, but it will bring healing and change.

The blame game might look like the easy way out, but eventually, it will turn to Gangrene on the inside. Once that happens something has to be amputated to save your life!

Stop playing the Blame Game and start Owning your Life.
