When we bought our first home, we had to go through the qualification process. The banker and real estate agent made us “Count the Cost”. It was not easy, and many times we were told we did not qualify for one reason or another.
For us, it took almost a year and a half to buy our home. If you have ever bought a home, you understand the circus you had to go through to buy that home!
To be successful in anything you must first Count the Cost. This is the process, like buying a home or business, where you sit down with professionals to see if you are willing to pay the price.
Success is expensive! You must be willing to pay the price before you start and with no guarantee that you will achieve it!
We sat with our banker and counted the cost of home ownership and decided it was worth the price it would demand to be successful. Even with all the work we put in on the front end, we failed to get our home on the first handful of times.
Have you sat down and counted the cost for your success for your marriage, job, raising kids, becoming a better person, getting into shape, starting a business, and saving money?
If we would Count the Cost and decide to pay the price for success in these areas on the front end, we would not have as many people who give up and quit on their dreams.
Failure in the process of pursuing your dream is not giving up. It’s a sign on the road advising you to slow down for a detour.
If we did not Count the Cost for our home we would have quit after the first or second failure. We decided on the front end that we would continue no matter what.
I see too many people who are “trying” to succeed. This means they quit before they started but did not realize it at the time.
Count the Cost for your success: the hours, money, dedication, consistency, determination, at times loneliness, failures, obstacles, challenges and detours.
