My life as a sales person can be summed up in two words: Manage Expectations. In my world, this means we have to help clients set realistic expectations based on the service we provide them. Most clients have very unrealistic expectations!

They believe that once they purchase our service, all their problems will go away and they will be swimming in money within 90 days! If we do not help them to manage their expectations, there is NO possibility for success!

Unmet Expectations are the biggest causes of frustration in your life.  Like the clients we work with, you have unrealistic expectations that need to be managed or your life will become a tangled mess of frustration.

What would you say is the number one reason for divorce? Most would answer money, sex, or children. Those would be wrong. They are symptoms, not the root cause.

The number one reason for divorce is unmet expectations! People come into relationships with the same faulty vision as our clients do when purchasing our services. Expectations are unrealistic, and when they do not materialize, they become frustrated and bitter.

This is also the number one reason so many people are frustrated at work. Their imagined expectation is not being met so they mentally divorce their company! They are still physically there, but their minds have left the building.

We must learn to manage our expectations at work and with our relationships. That does not mean we lower our standards. It means you must create realistic expectations of your relationships and your work.

We keep trying to change other people because they are not doing what we think or envision they should be.

Your path to happiness and success is to change yourself, and one of the ways you start is to manage your expectations of others!
