No Struggle No Strength

“All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me… You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you”.

Walt Disney

Walt Disney had an uphill struggle to find his success. He did not get there by luck nor was he an overnight success.

All his achievements came because he continued to overcome all the struggles, adversities, and obstacles he encountered or created!

Oprah Winfrey said, “Without struggle there is no Strength!”

Most of us wish life was easier and that the struggles we create or encounter would end quicker, but the truth is they are critical to our future success!

When I was stationed at FE Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming, my roommate was a body builder. He had worked hard for years to look like a mini Arnold Schwarzenegger.  He was bragging one day about how he benched 400 pounds.

Since I had been lifting weights casually for about a year, I knew I could do this also. The next day I went to the gym and put 400 pounds on the bench press and nearly decapitated myself!

My muscles could not handle that kind of weight but at least the small crowd that came to watch got a good laugh out of it.

The casual lifting I was doing did not cause the struggle in my muscles to develop enough strength to handle the weight.

I decided right then and there that I would pay the struggle price to have the strength. From that day on I came to the gym every day for 3 to 4 hours per day to work out as hard as I could and within a year I was benching over 400 pounds.

Some of our struggles, we create ourselves, like wanting to get a better bench press. Some are because of poor decisions we make, and some struggles life presents to us.

Whether your struggle is created or encountered, they are there to PRODUCE strength!

Don’t avoid them…Embrace them!

Struggles are life’s Secret Sauce!
