Team player or just a player?

I grew up watching and idolizing the Three Musketeers. There is something about the level of loyalty and honor these individuals displayed in their lives that captured me. To be a Musketeer you had to be a Team Player: “All for one and one for all.”

This means all the members of a group support each of the individual members and the individual members pledge to support the group. To do this, you must be willing to submit your personal ambitions and goals in favor of the team goals.

One of the biggest complaints today, about professional athletes playing a team sport, is that they have an all about me mentality.

Just a Player

Terrell Owens, a Hall of Fame receiver, was once quoted as saying, “I love me, some me.” He was one of the most talented receivers to play the game, but he ended up alienating and dividing every team he played for.

As fans, we hate this attitude and complain bitterly about it. We demand our sports teams to play as teams, not individuals.

We want Team Players, not Players!

A team Player will put the needs of the team above his/her personal needs for the betterment of the team and each individual that makes up the team. All for one and one for all!

Players are all about their own glory and individual stats. They only want what is good for them and how many individual records they can set.

What would happen if there were TV cameras on you at your place of work today capturing every word and action just like professional athletes?

Would we be seen as what we complain about the most? Are we a Team Player or just a Player?

Why is it okay for us to act like Terrell Owens at our jobs and only care about what’s in it for me?

It’s your choice today to be an All for one and one for all or I love me some me!
